About venetian blinds
Venetian blinds are made of different materials and can be sorted into three different categories. Aluminum venetian blinds are the most common type in the Scandinavia, with good reasons.
have reasonable low weight and is not affected by sunlight or varied
temperatures or humidity.
These are important characteristics of a venetian blind and this is important advantages compared to the next typ, venetian blinds of wood.
This is first of all an aesthetic option. Venetian blinds of wood is often nice to look at because they have a bit coarser dimensions. They are suspended and many let them hang folded to cast shadow over the room. Wood is a living material that is affected by moisture for example in a bathroom.
Finally there is a third option, venetian blinds of plastic. They look like venetian blinds of aluminum but are not that viable because even the mechanism is usually made of plastic.
Choose the right venetian blinds
What's important to think about when you get venetian blinds? First of all if your venetian blinds are mounted outside or inside the window. The last one is of course only possible with windows that are separated and it limits the choice of special venetian blinds for such a mounting. Because its important to get exact measurements for your window almost everyone turns to experts that mounts measure ordered venetian blinds.
There are benefits with having venetian blinds between the glass in the window. They are not in the way for flowers or curtains. They will not gather dust. And because they are always made to measure there will not be light along the sides. On the other hand you will have a lot more venetian blinds to choose between if you want to mount them outside the window.
Whats the parts called?
Venetian blinds consists of lamellae, over/understrip, a mechanism for control and cords that hold the venetian blind together. Some cords are tied together to step laces that controls height and angles of the lamellas. Instead of step laces a venetian blind can have woven strings, it's a little old fashion but very decorative. Not least on broad venetian blinds.
Aluminium lamellas are available in hundreds of different colours and patterns. You can choose to have one side bright and the other dark. Then you decide for yourself if you want cords and laces should match the lamellas or have contrasting colours. Venetian blinds are also available with broad lamellate. The difference between broad and thin lamellas is noticed when the venetian blind is open.
